RIGHT NOW...something is happening in Miami, Florida that is rocking the world of hip hop and R&B music. It is called Dablockonline. It is the first all real, no holds barred hip hop soap opera and internet hip hop & R&B talent site . DaBlock Online is already showing some hip hop episodes on their site. The hip hop soap opera takes place around a hip hop club so there is lots of opportunities for up and coming undiscovered talent who are interested in a real career to be seen by professionals from all over the world.

The basic story of the hip hop drama is about two Miami based rappers Chillin-Flow and Killerman who are trying to break through into the world of hip hop music. They set up a hip hop club for new talent and they are grinding to deal with all of the drama surrounding the club including gangsters, drugs, and sex and alcohol struggle to achieve their goals.
Creator and producer of the show and website is veteran writer/producer and hip hop pioneer Teddy Hayes is a real OG who first started banging out hip hop sounds way back in 1979 when he helped the create the hip hop genre by writing and producing the break beat classic " Street Talk" with his band Funky Constellation. Teddy also directed the classic Dunkie Butt music video by (the rapper 12 Gauge, ( let me ride that Dunkie Dunkie...) Besides having worked with icons in the business like Quincy Jones, and Roberta Flack, he also wrote a series of hard hitting detective novels based in Harlem, New York that has been published in the US and Europe.
About this project Teddy Hayes says "this hip hop soap opera is hard hitting with real language and real characters and does not compromise the integrity of the hip hop culture or bow down to potential advertisers who would alter or influence the program content in return for a few dollars. On DaBlock Online there are no holds barred with either subject matter or language. This soap opera is designed for real people and reflects all that is both ugly and beautiful and does not sanitise to accommodate advertisers. That is why we are a subscription based business model rather than an advertiser based model."
For just $8.00 a month the viewers can see all the soap opera episodes as well as all of the talent Galleries that are stocked with new hip hop and R&B talent from all over the world. There are three talent galleries, Sexy Dance, Big Breakz and the Newcomers Competition.
The soap opera drama is presented in 8-10 minute episodes and are available 24/7 on the net from the website. This website will change the way future hip hop stars are discovered in the years to come.
Real people can send their videos in from anywhere in the world, similar to YouTube if they want to participate. Once accepted the participant has the option of being presented in a Newcomer Competition showcase where the contestants actually appear as part of the soap opera via the wizardly of internet technology and can presently win cash prizes up to $4,500 as well as recording contracts.
Performers can also earn money from votes when they are featured in a special showcase Big Breakz or Sexy Dance talent gallery where professional entertainment companies can go to watch and monitor their popularity and participants can gain votes from the public and earn money based on their popularity. Marketing director Don Homes describes Dablock Online as "American Idol on Steroids. "Presently the program is filming in Miami but plans are being made to shoot episodes in Atlanta as early as September and New York City in the winter of this year. The plan is designed to have various episodes in various cities so that talented people from those cities can get directly involved with us" says Holmes.
Teddy Hayes, the producer says that "Dablock Online offers future hip hop and R&B talent from around the world a way for professional entertainment companies to see and choose from new talent. Also this is very good for record and entertainment companies because it saves them the endless process of guessing who will have audience appeal. Because people can actually vote on who their favourite performers are, so entertainment companies can pre-screen and test their new acts to see who are the most popular acts based on their voting response from the public. We chose Miami as the first location because it is the place where both African American as well as Latino hip hop culture flourishes. Dablock Online is already working with Slip and Slide records in Miami to promote Mike Bless, a rhythm and gangster artist, who will be appearing in an episode of the soap opera in an onstage performance. Because revenues for record companies are way down due to internet file sharing. This platform can increase the revenues of the record companies by exposing their artists to different audiences as well as helping them to promote their artists."
